Join us this Sunday for Worship

St. John's has gathered around Word and Sacrament in Cordova, NE since 1887. We are a small, regional church with a congregation made of farm families, retirees, young couples, and children. We would be glad to have you join us this Sunday at 9:00 a.m. for our Worship Service. You do not need to be dressed a certain way, or known to anybody here. Just come as you are and someone will help you find your way around. We can't wait to meet you!

Message from the Elders

From 2 Timothy 3:16-17 - “All Scripture is inspired by God and useful for instruction, correction, and training, so that God’s servants are fully prepared for every good work.”

The original Greek word Theopneustos — “God-breathed” — means that the writings come directly from the breath, or Spirit, of God. This passage was written by the Apostle Paul to his missionary partner and young believer Timothy to help him grow in faith as a man and a missionary Pastor.

Third Commandment – "Remember the Sabbath Day by keeping it holy." What does this mean? - We should fear and love God so that we do not despise preaching and His Word, but hold it sacred and gladly hear and learn it. (Continue here...)

Growing Together at Every Age

One of the most beautiful things about a church family is that we get to walk our faith journeys together. A good reminder that Christian education isn't a classroom we graduate from, but rather a life-long pursuit for reach of us. No matter how long we have read our Bible, there is always more to learn. God's Word continues to shape and strengthen us at every stage in life.

It can be a challenge to keep faith formation a priority amidst busy family schedules, but the rewards are well worth it. Whether lingering a bit after church to join a Bible Study, reading a devotion with our kids, or revisiting Sunday's scripture readings over lunch, these small habits can shape our existence. Let's encourage one another as we keep diving into the Word, growing side by side as lifelong learners of Christ.

Worship Services

Sunday morning Worship services at St. John's are regularly scheduled for 9:00 a.m. On Sunday's, Communion services are held on the odd numbered weeks each month with non-communion services held on the even numbered Sundays. (Seasonally adjusted Service Times...)

Sunday Bible Class

Join us on Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. after Worship for adult Bible Class and Sunday School where a variety of Christ centered topics are covered.

Jesus Christ brings the Gospel (from older English, "Good-spel," "good news") to the world. He announces that in His person the kingdom of God has come to mankind and that through faith in Him people might find new and eternal life. He is Himself the Good News, or Gospel.
