The main priority of a missionary is to bring the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ to people who have never heard the Good News. LCMS missionaries usually share that Good News in the language of the people they serve. When the Holy Spirit begins to gather people into Christian fellowship, missionaries assist these new Christians in forming their own indigenous church leaders.
Today, the LCMS trains, sends, and supports called and appointed career, long-term, and short-term missionaries in various countries around the world and in the United States where there are mission stations, partner churches, schools, or mission relationships.
Through 'Mission Central' we support and regularly hear from Rev. David Baker and his family who have served on the mission field in Asia for twenty-four (24) years bringing the message of God's love in Christ to this area of the world that is in total darkness. We pray that God continues to provide for this family, thier mission, and the work the Holy Spirit fills them with joy to accomplish.
The Mars family remain in prayer with the members of St. John's. We support them in thier long journey through David's seminary training, current vicarage, and additional seminary work soon to follow. We always look forward to hearing 'good news' from this family.
There remains a variety of ways in which members of the St. John's congregation can join with other local community members to assist those who are struggling with basic necessities and provide God's comforting Word along with those creature comforts that are often lived without.
